Derek
entered Financial Services in 1993, firstly as a Tied Adviser,
before moving into the Independent Sector
in 1998. His first job as an Independent Financial Adviser was
with a Regional Investment Adviser, based in South Manchester.
In
2001, Derek joined the Financial Services arm of a well known
accountancy practise in Preston. It was here that he
built up
his extensive knowledge of pensions, dealing with the practice’s
personal and corporate clients. Other areas of specialisation
include Personal Investment and Tax Planning. In 2007, Derek
became a Certified Financial Planner, and offers both new and
existing clients a comprehensive Financial Planning Review,
to include structured lifetime planning for both pre- and post-
retirement clients.
Derek
holds the diploma in Financial Planning (Dip PFS), and
to achieve this level of qualification has passed advanced
exams in the following subjects:-

Taxation and Trusts
• Pension Transfers
• Pension Funding Options
• Pension Income Options
• Mortgage Advice Qualification

In
2007, Derek was awarded the ‘Best
Achieving Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute’ for
the exam period from October 2006 to April 2007.
In addition to being an Investment Adviser with Premier
Wealth Management, Derek is also the Specialist Pension
Adviser
for the company. As such, he handles all requests for
advice in
relation to Occupational Pensions, and the establishment
of personal and
corporate pension schemes.
Derek’s views are regularly
sought by other professional bodies, including both the
accountancy and legal professions.
He also contributes regularly to trade journals in his
capacity as a Specialist Pensions Adviser.
